At Equator Learning Ltd we’re committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.

This Notice explains when and why we collect personal information about people who register with us, how we use it, the conditions under which we may disclose it to others and how we keep it secure.

By registering with all sites powered by Equator Learning you’re agreeing to be bound by this Notice but you are not sacrificing your rights i.e. your right of access; right to rectification; right to restrict processing; right to object; right to erasure; and right to complain. HOW DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM YOU? +
We collect information about you when you register with us.
WHAT TYPE OF INFORMATION IS COLLECTED FROM YOU? +
The personal information we collect will include your name, email address, work contact details and your job title. We also ask for your year of birth. Additionally we ask a bit about the company you work for.

We record your progress through the courses for which you register together with your test scores.

We will also collect information about your interaction with our website including your IP address and which pages you visit. This information is anonymous and does not identify you as an individual. See our Cookies Notice.
WHAT DO WE DO WITH YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION? +
At Equator Learning Ltd we are committed to providing the travel industry worldwide with multilingual and interactive online training programmes which are free to use by travel industry personnel. In order to deliver these programmes we work in partnership with suppliers of travel industry goods and services who sponsor our online training websites.

Course Registration

If you register with us, we will use your data to maintain e-mail contact with you, preferably at an email address that is personal to you. We will also share this information with the owner of the courses that you sign up for. (See Who has access to your information? Below)

In the legitimate interest of Equator Learning Ltd and Aruba Tourism Authority we may use your information to:

•    Process your registration with the online training programme(s) selected by you;
•    Provide information about the programme(s) for which you have registered;
•    Issue completion certificates;
•    Deal with entries into a competition or similar promotional offers;
•    Seek your views or comments on the services we provide;
•    Notify you of changes to our services.

General Communication

In addition, with your consent, we will use your email address to send you communications which may include: supplier product updates; competitions and incentives; news about new courses; and event information. Any or all of these communications could be targeted according to company and/or postcode.

Personalised Communication We may analyse your personal information to create a profile of your interests and preferences so that we can contact you with information relevant to you. You can update your profile at any time.
HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION FOR? +
We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as you require to use our services. You can choose to amend or delete your information at any time by logging in to your personal account dashboard.

In order to minimise any risk to your personal information, if you remain totally inactive on our system for more than 5 consecutive years all of your data will be automatically deleted. You will of course be able to register again at any time and start afresh.
WHO HAS ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION? +
First of all let’s be clear, your privacy is important to us and your information will only ever be shared with the following:

Third Party Service Providers working on our behalf: We may pass your information to our third party service providers, agents subcontractors and other associated organisations for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf (for example to send you email communications). However, when we use third party service providers, we disclose only the personal information that is necessary to deliver the service and we have a contract in place that requires them to keep your information secure and not to use it for their own direct marketing purposes.

Third Party Course Owners: this website content is owned by Aruba Tourism Authority and, as part of our agreement with the course owner, when you register your information is automatically made available to them. The course owner will use your information to communicate directly with you. We endeavour to have a contract in place that requests the course owner keep your information secure and not to share, sell or rent your information with any other party, unless you have given authority for them to do so. Once Aruba Tourism Authority has your data they may be considered a Data Controller and therefore we advise you to read their Privacy Notice.

If the third party course owner is based outside the European Union (EU) it is possible they might not be bound by data protection laws similar to those in the UK. By submitting your personal data, you’re agreeing to this transfer, storing or processing outside of the EU. However we will take steps to ensure that appropriate security measures are taken so that your privacy rights continue to be protected as outlined in this Notice.

Finally, we may transfer your personal information to a third party as part of a sale of some or all of our business and assets to any third party or as part of any business restructuring or reorganisation, or if we’re under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation or to enforce or apply our terms of use or to protect the rights, property or safety of our sponsors. However, we will take steps with the aim of ensuring that your privacy rights continue to be protected.

We will never sell or rent your information to any other third parties for direct marketing purposes.
TRANSFERRING YOUR INFORMATION OUTSIDE OF EUROPE +
If the third party course owner referred to above is based outside the European Union (EU) it is possible they might not be bound by data protection laws similar to those in the UK. By submitting your personal data, you’re agreeing to this transfer, storing or processing outside of the EU. However we will take steps to ensure that appropriate security measures are taken so that your privacy rights continue to be protected as outlined in this Notice.
WHAT ARE YOUR CHOICES? +
When you register with us you will have access to your own personal online learning dashboard where you will have control over your communication preferences.

Course Registration

At time of registration, you may choose to have email communication sent to either your own personal email address or to your personal company email address. You may change this selection at any time.

General Communications

You can also opt-in or out of receiving general communications from Equator Learning. This email communication will include: information about special offers, competitions and other incentives; a monthly newsletter; and other information to help you in your job. As well as controlling your choice from within your personal learning dashboard you can also opt-out by following the unsubscribe link in our emails.
HOW DO YOU EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS? +
Equator Learning Ltd believes that you should have as much control over your data as possible and so once registered you will have password-protected access to your personal learning dashboard from which you can customise your preferences and exercise your rights.

Right of Access: You can access your data at any time you have an internet connection.

Right to Rectification. The accuracy of your information is as important to us as it is to you and you are encouraged to keep it up-to-date.

Restrict processing e.g. by unsubscribing from general communications.

Right to object. You can opt-out of receiving general email communications like newsletters.

Right to erasure. You can even delete your information from our system although of course to do so would mean you would no longer have access to any of our courses and all of your test scores etc would be lost.

Equator Learning Ltd aims to meet the highest standards when collecting and using personal information. For this reason, we take any complaints we receive about this very seriously. We encourage people to bring it to our attention if they think that our collection or use of information is unfair, misleading or inappropriate.
